The heartbeat of The Shelter is our weekly Shelter Sunday workshop, where writers, directors, and actors challenge themselves to refine their respective crafts through hard work, creative exercise, experimentation, and artistic discourse. Weekly activities include readings of original scripts, rehearsals of monologues, songs, and scenes, as well as acting and directing exercises. Shelter Sunday operates with an open-door policy; we welcome all who would like to attend.
We meet weekly, every Sunday, 6:30pm at 151 W 26th Street on the 10th Floor. Through the end of the year, Sundays are “pay what you can”. We depend on community contributions to cover the cost of the space, but we understand that money isn’t always available for working artists. Suggested payment per Sunday is $10.
