The Lear Project

Shakespeare wrote King Lear while hiding out from the Plague. With the theaters closed, England’s greatest writer was able to focus on his craft and create a new masterpiece for us to enjoy four hundred years later.

As our first post-pandemic project we wanted to help writers create work and in record time launched The Lear Project. What do writers need to write when everything is closed and all is chaos? A set time to write. A community to encourage them to write. Feedback and dramaturgical support along the way. And to cap it off, a performance of their work. The Lear Project provided this and more for twenty-three playwrights.
